just watched “my name is khan”…

I think this gif best represents my reaction to it.
It was rather good, but I didn’t love it.
It’s just, the directing was kind of weird, the pacing was kind of all over the place, and some performances were terrible.
Shah Rhuk Khan, however, who plays Rizvan Khan, the titular character, was pretty good. The production was pretty good. The plot of the film is pretty interesting, too. But it was just too much to squeeze into one film, which resulted in an oddly-paced nearly 3-hour-long film.
I like what the film was trying to accomplish, I like themes and the uplifting message in the end, and the characters.
Most of the actors, however, were not very good. Everyone except Shah Rhuk Khan was kind of hammy.
Or maybe I’m not used to Bollywood films that aren’t musicals. I felt it was a bit too melodramatic. I know it was supposed to be moving, because it deals with so many real issues that are tragic and painful. But I feel the way that they were handled were often unrealistic.
Or maybe it’s just me.
I’m glad, however, that the film got pretty decent attention and good reception, because it was still a decent effort and an interesting story.
