ok, i get how this would seem like an appealing idea, to have someone like muse write and compose a song for the olympics that is going to be vastly different from previous olympic songs.

but… what the fuck.

it starts off pretty well, despite the fact that it sounds like queen and andrea bocelli and scissor sisters all mashed up together, and not like muse at all…

and then it sounds a bit nice, as it launches into the lyrics. quite different from any previous olympic song, but a nice different.

and then it gets kind of tragic and dark and too heavy for something that should feel triumphant. what’s with the nightwish chorus in the back?

“i’m gonna win/i’ll never lose/whatever it takes”… what the… sounds more like the song of an evil competitor doing whatever it takes, no matter how dirty it is, to bring down the competition.

sounds like defeat.
